Green Team Back for Cal Cup Sprint

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2004) – Green Team attempts to defend his title Saturday in the $150,000 Dodge/Donald Valpredo California Cup Sprint at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Palmerton is by Bertrando, out of the Never Tabled mare Seed Case, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod and is owned by Sandra Hall Trust. He has five wins, $104,628 in earnings and was second in the Oct. 9 Caballo Del Sol Handicap.

Areyoutalkintome is by Smokester, out of the Storm Bird mare Andrea Gail, was bred by John Toffan and Trudy McCaffery and is owned by Ron Manzani. He has four wins, $187,892 in earnings and in his most recent starts was second in the California Sprint Championship after winning the Real Good Deal Stakes.

Bonfante is by Fruition, out of the Mountain Cat mare Tahoma Cat, was bred by Tenbrink & Frankfurt Stables and is owned by Frankfurt Stables. He has two wins in four starts, was most recently fifth in a Sept. 29 optional claimer and is making his stakes debut.

El Don is by Cee’s Tizzy, out of the Pretense mare Timed Perfectly, was bred by owner Harris Farms. He has two wins in four starts and most recently was fourth in the Aug. 6 Real Good Deal Stakes.

Ride and Shine is by High Brite, out of the Red Ryder mare Shining Ryder, was bred by owner Souheil Bisharat. He has seven wins and $459,136 in earnings but is looking for his first stakes win. He was sixth in this race last year and fifth the year before.

Fairly Crafty is by Crafty Prospector, out of the Kris S. mare Fair Kris, was bred by owner Richard O’Neill. He has three wins, $138,946 in earnings and is looking for his first stakes win.

Shadow of Illinois is by Illinois Storm, out of the Trempolino mare My Annie T, was bred by Barbara Millard and is owned by Ella and W.D. Sivage. He has two wins but none this year.

Green Team is by Huddle Up, out of the Moscow Ballet mare Scare Tactics, was bred by Harris Farms and is owned by Ferro Family Trust and Bonde. The defending champion has nine wins in 36 starts and $566,477 in earnings. He is coming off a win in the Sept. 11 California Sprint Championship.

Millionaire Full Moon Madness is by Half a Year, out of the Secretariat mare Soft Charm, was bred by John and Betty Mabee and is owned by R-Two Angels Stable. He won this race in 2000, was fifth last year, has 15 wins and $1,055,685 in earnings and was second in three of his last four starts.

Only the Best is by Smokester, out of the Mehmet mare Mesquite Miss, was bred by Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Toeffel and is owned by Puglisi Stables. He has five wins, $264,754 in earnings, has four stakes wins, two on each coast. This will be his first start since July.

Cheiron is by Maria’s Mon, out of the Wild Again mare Fortunee, was bred by The Thoroughbred Corp. and is owned by Noctis, Papiano, et al. He has three wins in 10 starts with $312,492 in earnings. He won the Snow Chief Stakes and most recently was fourth in the July 19 Affirmed Handicap.

Bewitching Bartok is by Bartok, out of the Roanoke mare Merry Krisoke, was bred by Morry Cohen and is owned by 5C Racing Stable. He has one win in nine starts and most recently was fourth in a Sept. 30 allowance.
