What: 2004 California Cup spotlights the California Thoroughbred racing and breeding industry in a series of 10 races worth $1.325 million.

When: Saturday, October 16, first post 12:30 p.m., gates open 10:30 a.m.

Where: Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California.

Hosts: Oak Tree Racing Association, Santa Anita Park and the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

Featuring: $1 million guaranteed Pick Six, $500,000 guaranteed Pick Four; blanket giveaway for general admission fans at Santa Anita.

Expected: More than 100,000 viewers statewide at Santa Anita and at 33
satellite wagering facilities.

Races: $250,000 California Cup Classic; $175,000 John C. Mabee California Cup Mile (Turf); $150,000 Dodge Donald Valpredo California Cup Sprint; $150,000 TOC/CTT California Cup Matron; $150,000 John Deere California Cup Distaff (Turf); $125,000 Budweiser California Cup Juvenile;$125,000 Robert H. Walter California Cup Juvenile Fillies; $100,000 TVG California Cup Distance Handicap (Turf); $50,000 XTRA 690 AM/Fox 1150 California Cup Starter Handicap; $50,000 California Cup Starter Sprint Handicap.

Format: By nomination open to all horses bred in California; entries to be taken Wednesday, October 13.

Admission: $5 general, $8.50 clubhouse, $15 to Turf Club and John Henry Room. Additional charges for clubhouse or box seating. General parking $4.
