Mary Knight, agent, consigned Fire Sale Queen. Rochelle also secured the second highest priced horse of the sale in hip number 32, Boyohboyohboy, at $130,000. The dark bay son of Bertrando out of multiple stakes winner Linda Card also was consigned by Mary Knight, agent.

Other active buyers at the sale included Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Moss, who purchased hip number 44, Take A Memo for $80,000 and hip number 40, Fancy Heiress for $52,000. Harris Farms in partnership with Keith Brackpoll went to $100,000 to purchase Cantaloupe, hip number 50, a bay filly by Runaway Groom. Trainer Wally Dollase, agent, signed the $100,000 ticket for hip number 64, a colt by Stage Colony, while Merv Griffin took home hip number 55, a filly by Simply Majestic, for $50,000.

"It is gratifying to see such a market demand for California-breds," said CTBA General Manager Doug Burge. "We are very pleased with the results, as well as the turnout. This sale should only get stronger in the future."
