CTBA Sales Video Preview held at Hollywood Park

ARCADIA, CA—CTBA Sales held its video preview of selected California-bred two-year-olds in training yesterday at Hollywood Park. The two-year-olds are slated to sell next Tuesday, April 6, at Hollywood Park at 7 p.m.

Among the shining stars of the video preview were hip number 50, a bay filly by Runaway Groom named Cantaloupe. Consigned by Mary Knight, agent, Cantaloupe worked a quarter mile in a fast :21 4/5. Cantaloupe is produced from the winning Storm Cat mare Sea Tempest. Hip number 60, a bay filly by Moscow Ballet—Timed Perfectly, by Pretense, also consigned by Mary Knight, agent, recorded the second-fastest quarter mile time, stopping the clock in :22.

Hip numbers 15, 44, and 45 all worked an eighth of a mile in a sprightly :10 3/5, registering the quickest times of the morning at that distance. Hip 15, named Syco Sue’s Slew, is a daughter of Slew’s Royalty—Cozy Rendezvous, by Cozzene. Consigned by Juvenile Prep Bloodstock, LLC, the filly is a half-sister to stakes winner Canny Professor. Hip 44, Take a Memo, is a colt by Memo (Chi)—Pisoni, by Mamaison. Consigned by Stubblefield Thoroughbreds, agent, the colt hails from the family of stakes winners Direct Hit and Dallas Deb. Hip 45, Royal Excess, a black filly by In Excess (Ire)—Princely Hug, by Princely Native, is consigned by Mary Knight, agent.

The catalogue also includes three Santa Anita winners. Hip number two, Ed’s in Excess, by In Excess, and hip 49, Fire Sale Queen, also by In Excess, were on the grounds but did not preview; while hip 12, Local Syn, galloped.
