Cal-bred Trio Says Hasta La Vista

PHOENIX, Ariz. (Apr. 29, 2008) - California-breds Zielonko, Running Free and Royal Okie are entered in Sunday’s $50,000 Hasta la Vista Handicap at 1 7/8 miles on the Turf Paradise turf course.

Zielonko is by Beau Genius, out of the Staff Writer mare Polite Writer, was bred by Billingsley Creek Ranch, foaled at Rancho San Miguel, owned by Joanne or Jon Kruljac and is trained by J.J. Kruljac. The $28,000 Barretts purchase has two wins in 23 starts, earnings of $25,348 and is coming off a fifth in an Apr. 22 $12,500 claimer.

Running Free is by Soft Gold, out of the Mukaddamah mare Baby Grand, was bred by owner Southern Nevada Racing Stables, foaled at Harris Farms and is trained by Neil Knapp. He has seven wins in 35 starts, earnings of $531,360 and is coming off a fourth in the Apr. 6 Wildcat

Royal Okie is by Turkoman, out of the The Minstrel mare Rise and Sing, was bred by Amity & Bench, was foaled at Santa Rosa Ranch, is owned by trainer John Martin. He has four wins in 33 starts, earnings of $78,968 and is coming off a third when claimed Apr. 28 for $6,250.
