Trio of NorCal Sale Grads Win

SAN MATEO, Calif. (Apr. 24, 2008) - Three graduates of the Northern California Yearling Sale were winners on Wednesday’s racing card at Bay Meadows.

Summer Haze won the second race, an allowance optional claimer; Jack Hes Tops won the seventh race, also an allowance optional claimer; and Classielyte won the eighth race, a starter’s allowance.

Summer Haze is by Globalize, out of the Smokester mare Street Band, was bred by Howard Litt, was foaled at Victory Rose Thoroughbreds, is owned by Lloyd Grant and Joseph Stiglich and trained by Greg Gilchrist. The $48,000 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase ran the five furlongs on turf in :57.10 and won by two lengths as the 2-5 favorite.

Jack Hes Tops is by He’s Tops, out of the Peterhof mare Castle Bet, was bred by Ray and Charlotte Holmes and Jurene Stuart, was foaled at Harris Farms, is owned by Lawrence Karp and Dennis Ward and trained by Ward. The $10,000 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase ran five furlongs on turf in :57.22 and won by a nose at odds of 11-1.

Classielyte is by Memo, out of the Moscow Ballet mare Soviet Sally, was bred by Pierre Nicolas, was foaled at Ridgeley Farm, is owned by Cavali, Deeney and Lage and trained by Armando Lage. The $6,200 Northern California Yearling Sale graduate ran six furlongs in 1:10.70 and won by 1 ¼ lengths as the 7-5 favorite.
