Cal-bred Six-Pack in Monterey
SAN MATEO, Calif. (Apr. 16, 2008)
-- Six California-breds are among the 13 horses entered in Saturday’s
$55,000 Monterey Handicap for fillies and mares at five furlongs on the
Bay Meadows turf course.
Gentle Charmer is by Bertrando, out
of the Great Charmer mare Triple Charm, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod,
was foaled at River Edge Farm, is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning and
trained by Ed Moger Jr. The $17,000 Barretts purchase has seven wins in
30 starts, earnings of $344,313 and is coming off an eighth in the Jan.
26 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf.
A.V. Flynn is by Valid Wager, out
of the Bold Ruckus mare Courageously, was bred by Mr. and Mrs. George
Chakmankian, was foaled at Tommy Town Thoroughbreds, is owned by For the
Boys Stable and is trained by Steven Miyadi. She has three wins in six
starts, earnings of $70,360 and is coming off a sixth in the Feb. 23 Bay
Meadows Distaff Sprint.
Royal Kleven is by Kleven, out of
the Regal and Royal mare Royal Verbatim, was bred by Fred Watarida,
foaled at Poplar Meadows, is owned by Donna Elordi and Leonard Shoemaker
and is trained by Donna Elordi. She has 10 wins in 33 starts, earnings
of $415,113 and is coming off a fourth in the Mar. 29 Hillsborough. She
was second in this race two years ago.
Also eligible Fama Y Dinero is by
Western Fame, out of the In Excess mare Excessiveness, was bred by
Keisuke Inaba, was foaled at Applebite Farm and is owned by trainer Ken
Edgerly. The $1,500 Barretts purchase has two wins in 11 starts,
earnings of $44,198 and is coming off a fifth in a Mar. 10 optional
claimer.

by Six Below, out of the Prized mare Mission Viejo, was bred by Cardiff
Farm Management, was foaled at Cardiff Stud Farm, is owned by Andrew

is coming off a fifth in a Mar. 31 $25,000 claimer.
