October Yearling Sale Tuesday POMONA, Calif. (Sept. 29, 2006) – The 2006 California’s October Yearling Sale, co-sponsored by Barretts Equine Limited and the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Hinds Pavilion at Fairplex Park. Stakes winners from previous Barretts October Yearling Sales include Proposed, House of Fortune, Runaway Dancer, Da Stoops, Press Camp, River’s Prayer, Seven Nation Army, Sophie’s Trophy and current 2-year-old stakes winners Ces’t Mark, Tie Rod and Zoning In. Submitted photographs of yearlings in the October sale catalog are posted on the Barretts website. http://www.barretts.com/catalog/catoc106/PHOTO.HTM The inaugural sale last year exceeded pre-sale expectations when 207 yearlings sold for $5,239,400 averaging $25,311 with a median price of $17,000. The highest price was paid for Hip 62, a colt named Symphonic Moment from the first crop of the Danzig stallion High Demand, who sold for $290,000 by High Demand’s owner Golden Eagle Farm to Southern California trainer John Sadler as agent. The sales price of $290,000 was the highest for a yearling sold in California since 1991 (also by Golden Eagle Farm), as well as a record price for a yearling sold at Barretts. The goal of the October Yearling Sale is to provide local breeders a single marketplace where they can showcase their best yearlings.
