Green Team Gets Sprint Test
MIAMI, Fla. (Jan. 19, 2004) --
California Cup Sprint champion Green Team will be the lone California-bred
shipping to Gulfstream Park for Saturday's $300,000 Padua Stables Sprint
in the Sunshine Millions II.
The 5-year-old gelding is by Huddle
Up, out of the Moscow Ballet mare Scare Tactics, and was bred by Harris
Farms. He is coming off a second to Excess Summer in the Dec. 13 On Trust
Handicap.
Claimed for $32,000 last July,
Green Team has finished first or second in each of his last eight races,
four of the them wins. He earned a 110 Beyer Speed Figure in the Nov. 8
Cal Cup Sprint.
Green Team's toughest competition
will come from multiple graded stakes winner Shake You Down, whose average
Beyer over his last 10 races is 113. Also entered is defending champion
Valid Video, a 4-year-old son of California stallion Valid Wager coming
off a 13th in the Breeders Cup Sprint.
Two of the Florida-breds entered in
the race are by the California stallion Valid Wager. They are defending
champ Valid Video, a multiple graded stakes winner of $565,700, and
Thunder Bullet is a stakes winner of $259,024.
