Green Team Gets Sprint Test

MIAMI, Fla. (Jan. 19, 2004) -- California Cup Sprint champion Green Team will be the lone California-bred shipping to Gulfstream Park for Saturday's $300,000 Padua Stables Sprint in the Sunshine Millions II.

The 5-year-old gelding is by Huddle Up, out of the Moscow Ballet mare Scare Tactics, and was bred by Harris Farms. He is coming off a second to Excess Summer in the Dec. 13 On Trust Handicap.

Claimed for $32,000 last July, Green Team has finished first or second in each of his last eight races, four of the them wins. He earned a 110 Beyer Speed Figure in the Nov. 8 Cal Cup Sprint.

Green Team's toughest competition will come from multiple graded stakes winner Shake You Down, whose average Beyer over his last 10 races is 113. Also entered is defending champion Valid Video, a 4-year-old son of California stallion Valid Wager coming off a 13th in the Breeders Cup Sprint.

Two of the Florida-breds entered in the race are by the California stallion Valid Wager. They are defending champ Valid Video, a multiple graded stakes winner of $565,700, and Thunder Bullet is a stakes winner of $259,024.
