Silent Sighs the Oaks Pick

MIAMI, Fla. (Jan. 19, 2004) -- Silent Sighs has been installed as the 6-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday's $250,000 Ocala Stud Oaks for 3-year-old fillies at the Sunshine Millions II at Gulfstream Park.

Silent Sighs will be joined by fellow-California-bred Remembrances in the six-filly field. Silent Sighs has beaten Remembrances twice head-to-head, including most recently in the Dec. 27 California Breeders' Champion Fillies Stakes.

Silent Sighs is by Benchmark, out of the Bertrando mare Quiet Romance, and was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod. She earned a 105 Beyer in the Cal Breeders Champion Stakes, the third-highest for a 2-year-old of any sex in 2003. She has two wins in three starts, her only loss coming by a half-length after a stretch-long duel with House of Fortune in the California Cup Juvenile Fillies. She has earnings of $125,200.

Remembrances is by Cherokee Run, out of the Dixie Brass mare Remember When, and was bred by Donald and Mary Zuckerman. The $120,000 Barretts purchase has two wins in five starts and $63,300 in earnings.
