Adminniestrator Defends Title

MIAMI, Fla. (Jan. 19, 2004) -- Defending champion Adminniestrator and Bourbon County will represent California-breds at Gulfstream Park Saturday in the $500,000 Franks Farm Turf on Sunshine Millions II Day.

Adminniestrator is making his first appearance for new owner Michael Gill and trainer Nick Canani, who claimed him for $80,000 when he finished a close fourth Jan. 4. It was his first race since finishing a distance eighth in the Apr. 20 Grade I San Juan Capistrano. Adminniestrator is a 7-year-old by Incinderator, out of the Golden Eagle II mare Admiral Minnie, and was bred by Fred Sahadi.

The inaugural running of the Sunshine Millions Turf was Adminniestrator's greatest win, taking a head-bob from Music's Storm, a Florida-bred son of California stallion Storm Creek who will be looking to avenge that desperate defeat. Adminniestrator has nine wins in 37 starts and earnings of $743,221.

The other California-bred in the field is Bourbon County, a 5-year-old by Smokester, out of the Turkoman mare Turkish Gipsy, and was bred by Bobby Ng and Cardiff Farm Management. He is looking for his first win in nearly a year. He has three wins in 21 starts and $122,166 in earnings.

Speaking of Turkoman, Florida-bred Man from Wicklow also is entered. The Grade II winner is a son of the California sire who has not raced since April. Another Florida-bred entered is Stormy Roman, a multiple stakes-winning son of California stallion Future Storm.
