Sunshine Millions Post Times Set

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 15, 2003) -- Magna Entertainment has announced post times for the $3.6 million Sunshine Millions II, to be held Jan. 24 at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park for horses bred in California and Florida.

Post time for the $250,000 Ocala Stud Oaks at Gulfstream will be 12:45 p.m. (PT); the $250,000 NATC Dash at Santa Anita at 1:03 p.m.; the $300,000 Padua Stables Sprint at Gulfstream at 1:15 p.m.; the $300,000 Nextel Filly & Mare Sprint at Santa Anita at 1:33 p.m.; the $500,000 Ocala Breeders' Sales Distaff at Gulfstream at 1:51 p.m.; the $500,000 John Deere Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita at 2:09 p.m.; the $500,000 Franks Farm Turf at Gulfstream at 2:25 p.m.; and the $1 million Barretts/CTBA Classic at Santa Anita at 2:45.

All but the Oaks will be televised live on NBC. First post for the 10-race live card at Santa Anita is noon.

A total of 130 horses pre-entered Wednesday, 54 Cal-breds and 70 Florida-breds. A maximum of 14 horses can run in sprints and 12 in routes.

The on-track promotions menu includes the Super Sweepstakes giveaway of a new car and trips to New Zealand, the Preakness Stakes and Las Vegas, plus a handicapping seminar. A free sports cap will be given away (while supplies last) for each paid admission, a Miss Hawaiian Tropic Pageant will be held, along with a beach party. After the races, live music will be found in the Sirona Bar & Grille overlooking the Paddock Gardens.
