ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2003) -- He's the Rage broke his maiden in stunning fashion Saturday, closing boldly on the outside to capture the $125,000 California Cup Budweiser Juvenile at Oak Tree at Santa Anita by four lengths.

The son of Soft Gold is out of the Hansel mare Interaction and was bred by owner Southern Nevada Racing Stable. He was the second winner on the card trained by James Cassidy and the fourth winner ridden by Victor Espinoza.

In his only other race, He's the Rage tried to close from last and encountered traffic problems while finishing third, only a head behind the winner, in an Oct. 11 maiden special weight.

Nonetheless, he went off in the Juvenile as the 5-2 second choice and ran the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.65, more than 2 1/2 seconds slower than Robert H. Walter Juvenile Fillies winner House of Fortune.

Black Horse Money closed from last to finish second and favored Don'tsellmeshort was third.
