ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2003) -- Moscow Burning, claimed for $25,000 in August, drew off to a three-length win in Saturday's $100,000 California Cup TVG Distance Handicap for fillies and mares at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

The 3-year-old daughter of Moscow Ballet is out of the Mr. Leader mare Burning Desire and was bred by Harris Farms and Ken Maddy Trust. Harris Farms has either bred or co-bred past Cal Cup winners Unlimited Value, Super High, Teresa Mc, As We Know It and Reality Changes.

This was Moscow Burning's third consecutive win and sixth in eight starts, raising her career earnings to $170,565. She is owned by Mariani or Nentwig or Van Kempen, is trained by James Cassidy and was ridden by Ryan Fogelsonger. Moscow Burning is unbeaten in three races at Santa Anita and in five turf races has four wins and a second.

She ran the 1 1/4 miles on turf in 2:00.91, more than a second faster than Nicole's Pursuit ran last year, the first time the race was run at the distance. She went off at odds of 6-1.

Ardum Relaunch was second and Valentine Dancer was third.
