Don'tsellhimshort in Juvenile

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2003) -- Stakes winners Don'tsellmeshort and P Town John lead a field of 10 entered in Saturday's $100,000 Budweiser California Cup Juvenile at 1 1/16 miles at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Don'tsellmeshort is by Benchmark, out of the Siyah Kalem mare Miss Soft Sell, and was bred by Mary Caldwell. He won the Graduation Stakes and Barretts Juvenile and was second by a nose in the I'm Smokin. He was a $75,000 Barretts purchase and has banked $204,395 in earnings.

P Town John is by Smokester, out of the Prized mare Sochi, and was bred by John Toffan and Trudy McCaffery. He won the Beau Brummel Stakes and was second in the Cavonnier. He was a $30,000 Barretts 2-year-old purchase and a $12,500 Barretts yearling purchase.

Gem Of A Day is by Event of the Year, out of the Alydar mare Lovely Gemstone, and was bred by John and Betty Mabee. The $20,000 Barretts purchase is a maiden who was claimed for $32,000 out of her most recent start.

He's The Rage is by Soft Gold, out of the Hansel mare Interaction, and was bred by Southern Nevada Racing Stables. He was third in his only start.

Charbonnier is by Robannier, out of the Cost Conscious mare Charmalotta, and was bred by Robert H. Walter Family Trust. He broke his maiden in his third and most recent start on the turf.

Pleasure Honor was a $42,000 purchase at the Del Mar Yearling Sale. He is by Honor Grades, out of the Secret Hello mare Ricky Pleasure, and was bred by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds. He is unbeaten in two starts.

Tricky Flash Flood is a son of Tricky Creek, out of the Two Punch mare Here'sthatrainyday, and was bred by Clay Sides. He is stakes-placed but has only one win in 13 starts.

Black Horse Money is by General Meeting, out of the Bel Bolide mare Bel Darling, and was bred by John and Betty Mabee. He was claimed for $50,000 when he broke his maiden in his second start. He was a $43,000 Barretts purchase.

Devoted Lover is by Friendly Lover, out of the Bold Ruckus mare Praise the Lady, and was bred by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds. A $20,000 Barretts purchase, he has one win in five starts.

Pioneerman is by Pioneering, out of the Private Account mare Paper Money, and was bred by Earle McNeil and Haras El Palenque. He was fourth in the I'm Smokin.
