A Juvenile Fillies Scramble
ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2003) --
Del Mar Yearling Sale graduate House of Fortune and fellow local stakes
winner She's Gottogetaway take on Arizona invader Bugsy Marrone in
Saturday's $125,000 Robert H. Walter California Cup Juvenile Fillies at 1
1/16 miles at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.
House of Fortune is by Free House,
out of the Garthorn mare So Fortunate, and was bred by John Treasure. A
$125,000 Barretts purchase, she won the Oct. 1 Cover Gal Stakes.
She's Gottogetaway is by Lite the
Fuse, out of the Norquestor mare Hot Getaway, and was bred by Tommy Town
Thoroughbreds. She won the Generous Portion Stakes and was third in the
Cover Gal.
Bugsy Marrone has won five
consecutive races, the last four at Turf Paradise by a total of 42
lengths. She is by Bold Badgett, out of the Lost Code mare Bugged, and was
bred by Old English Rancho and McKuen.
Nicole and Ben is by Russian
Courage, out of the Order mare Orderly Walk, and was bred by Robert
Moreno. She was second in the Cover Gal and fourth in the Generous
Portion.
Steal My Kisses is by Rio Verde,
out of the Sovereign Dancer mare Foursacharm, and was bred by Terry
Lovingier. She was fifth in the Bustles and Bows.
Poet's Studio is by Bertrando, out
of the Graustark mare Inola Gray, and was bred by Ed Nahem. She was second
in the Black Swan Stakes.
Blowing Bartok is by Bartok, out of
the Hagley mare Halley's Wind, and was bred by Morry Cohen. She is a
maiden, but is multiple stakes placed.
Coke's Melody is by Distinctive
Cat, out of the Taj Alrijadh mare Bint Alrijadh, and was bred by Eric
Kruljac. She broke her maiden in her third start Oct. 2.
Dance of the Year is by Event of
the Year, out of the Sir Ivor mare Ivory Dance, and was bred by John and
Betty Mabee. She was fourth in the Cover Gal in her second start.
Seattle Sloop was a $25,000
purchase at the Del Mar Yearling Sale. She is a maiden who was claimed for
$40,000 out of her most recent start Oct. 15.
Silent Sighs is by Benchmark, out
of the Bertrando mare Quiet Romance, and was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod.
She won her only start by six lengths Oct. 13.
Daddy's Princess is by Mud Route,
out of the Broad Brush mare Classie Girl, and was bred by Gary and Timothy
Burke. She was sixth in the Oak Leaf Stakes.
Smokegetenyoureyes is by Smokester,
out of the Solar Launch mare Toddy, and was bred by Bonnie Seltzer and Jim
Dotson. She broke her maiden in her second start Oct. 16.
The Usual is by Unusual Heat, out
of the Half a Year mare Style of the Year, and was bred by Madeline
Auerbach. She has won her last two races.
