Cee's Elegance Headlines Matron
ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2003) --
Cee's Elegance will be spotting rivals anywhere from four to 11 pounds
Saturday in the $150,000 CTT/TOC California Cup Matron Handicap for
fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.
Cee's Elegance was fifth in the
race a year ago at 5-1. She is by Cee's Tizzy, out of the Norcliffe mare
Elegant Beauty, and was bred by Cecilia Straub-Rubens. She has wins in the
A Gleam Handicap and B. Thoughtful Stakes with earnings of $744,039.
Bartok's Blithe is by Bartok, out
of the Roanoake mare Merry Krisoke, and was bred by Morry Cohen. She won
the Melair and Pleasanton Senorita Stakes, but has been idle since
finishing fourth in the July 27 Fleet Treat Stakes.
Summer Wind Dancer is by Siberian
Summer, out of the Incinderator mare Native Wind Dancer, and was bred by
Richard and Yvette Wira, Linda Vetter and Deborah Penn. She won two stakes
at Santa Anita last year as a 2-year-old and has $267,751 in earnings.
Royally Chosen is by In Excess, out
of the King of Kings mare Her Royalty, and was bred by Old English Rancho
and Headley. She is Grade I placed but is looking for her first stakes win
and her first win of any kind since October, 2001.
Elaine's Angel was third in the
race a year ago as the second choice at 9-5. She is by T.U. Slew, out of
the Ole mare Ole Sis, and was bred by Brian Bartch, Barbara Dutton and
Thomas Capehart. Her last win was July, 2002, but she has $350,216 in
earnings.
Super High, who won the race last
year as the 8-5 favorite, is by High Brite, out of the Zanthe mare Image
of Super, and was bred by owner Harris Farms. She has $474,848 in
earnings, but her last win came a year ago. Since then, she has not hit
the board in four races after returning from a fracture.
Thermal Ablasion is by Unusual
Heat, out of the Be a Native mare Chemolo, and was bred by James and
Madeline Auerbach. She was claimed three times this year, most recently
for $40,000 Oct. 17. She has $181,401 in earnings.
Cyber Slew is by Siberian Summer,
out of the Slew o'Gold mare Truly Golden, and was bred by Kevin Carey. She
was third in the CTBA Marian Stakes in her third career start and third in
an Oct. 12 allowance.
