It's Sprint Madness
ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2003) --
Ten-year-old Men's Exclusive and 2000 winner Full Moon Madness square off
in Saturday's $150,000 Donald Valpredo California Cup Sprint Handicap at
Oak Tree at Santa Anita.
Men's Exclusive is by Exclusive
Ribot, out of the Meneval mare Men's Number, and was bred by H.E. Reed. He
has nearly $1.5 million in earnings with 11 wins in 46 starts and most
recently was third in the Oct. 4 California Sprint Championship.
Full Moon Madness won this race in
2000 and has 15 wins in 37 starts and became a millionaire over the
summer. He is by Half a Year, out of the Secretariat mare Soft Charm, and
was bred by John and Betty Mabee.
Excess Summer is by In Excess, out
of the Bold Ruckus mare Summer Ruckus, and was bred by Eddie Gregson and
E.J. Hand. A $3,500 Barretts purchase, he strung three consecutive stakes
wins this year before fading to ninth in the Oct. 25 Seabiscuit Stakes.
Green Team is by Huddle Up, out of
the Moscow Ballet mare Scare Tactics, and was bred by Harris Farms.
Claimed for $32,000 in July, he has two wins and a second in the
California Sprint Championship. He has $296,622 in earnings.
Highly Tempting is by High Brite,
out of the Storm Cat mare Sea Tempest, and was bred by Harris Farms. He
was claimed twice in July, for $25,000 and $32,000, and brings a
three-race win streak into the Sprint.
Ride and Shine was fifth in the
race last year at 12-1. He is by High Brite, out of the Red Ryder mare
Shining Ryder, and was bred by Souheil and Raed Bisharat. He finished
fifth in the California Sprint Championship, then was fourth in a speedy
optional claimer Oct. 26.
Summer Service is by Siberian
Summer, out of the Silver Deputy mare Silver Service, and was bred by Mr.
and Mrs. Michael Power. He was claimed this year for $40,000 and $62,500
and most recently was thirde in an Oct. 1 allowance. He has $160,460 in
earnings.
Trapper was a $15,000 Barretts
purchase. The California Sprint Champion is by Iron Cat, out of the Hold
Your Peace mare Ananda, and was bred by Creston Farms. He was claimed from
his Apr. 3 debut for $32,000 and brings a four-race win streak with him,
along with earnings of $133,960.
