$60,000 Magali Farms Maiden Stakes
TUCKED AWAY

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 26, 2003) -- Favored Tucked Away, having dismounted jockey Gary Stevens in the gate before the start and next to last down the backstretch, picked them off with a steady stretch run for a two-length win Saturday in the $60,000 Magali Farms Maiden Stakes on Gold Rush Day at Hollywood Park.

The 3-year-old filly is by Unusual Heat, out of the stakes-placed Be a Native mare Chemolo, and was bred by Madeline Auerbach.

She ran the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:17.08.

Claimed for $40,000 when finishing second Dec. 8, Tucked Away has three seconds in six starts and the $36,000 first-place purse more than doubled her career earnings to $67,298. She is a full sister to Thermal Ablasion.

Tucked Away was trained by Patrick Gallagher and owned by Nico Nierenberg. Score Six, who led early, was second and Plus Three was third.
