$60,000 Magali Farms Maiden Stakes
TUCKED AWAY
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 26, 2003)
-- Favored Tucked Away, having dismounted jockey Gary Stevens in the gate
before the start and next to last down the backstretch, picked them off
with a steady stretch run for a two-length win Saturday in the $60,000
Magali Farms Maiden Stakes on Gold Rush Day at Hollywood Park.
The 3-year-old filly is by Unusual
Heat, out of the stakes-placed Be a Native mare Chemolo, and was bred by
Madeline Auerbach.
She ran the 6 1/2 furlongs in
1:17.08.
Claimed for $40,000 when finishing
second Dec. 8, Tucked Away has three seconds in six starts and the $36,000
first-place purse more than doubled her career earnings to $67,298. She is
a full sister to Thermal Ablasion.
Tucked Away was trained by Patrick
Gallagher and owned by Nico Nierenberg. Score Six, who led early, was
second and Plus Three was third.
