$60,000 Pepper Oaks Farm Maiden Stakes
LE MANS

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 26, 2003) -- California stallion Memo swept the top three places in the Gold Rush Day nightcap at Hollywood Park, as Le Mans rallied down the stretch and pulled away from Zoolu Nights to win the $60,000 Pepper Oaks Farm Maiden Stakes for colts and geldings.

Le Mans is by Memo, out of the Mamaison mare Lila Finn, and was bred by Palisair Place. He is a full brother to the multiple stakes winner La Feminn, who won the 2000 B. Thoughtful Stakes on Gold Rush Day. This was his fourth career start, but first since last July. He ran the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15.73 and won by 2 1/2 lengths.

Le Mans is owned by Hal Oliver, was trained by Richard Mandella and was the third winner ridden by David Flores on the Gold Rush Day card.

Del Mar Yearling Sale graduates Zoolu Nights and Hillaryscircuspony, also sired by Memo, were second and third. Five of the 11 horses in the race were sired by Memo.
