FIVE STAR MEETING
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 26, 2003)
-- Five Star Meeting pulled away late in the stretch to take the $70,000
Lakeview Thoroughbred Farms Stakes by one length Saturday on Gold Rush Day
at Hollywood Park.
The daughter of General Meeting,
out of the Star de Naskra mare Star Eighty Eight, was bred by Clydene
Boots and sold at Barretts as a yearling for $50,000. She is a full sister
to the stakes-placed Star's Millennium and a half-sister to the
stakes-placed Reno Hightower.
This was Five Star Meeting's second
win in three career starts and raised her earnings to $77,520.
Five Star Meeting, the lukewarm
favorite at 3-1, is owned by Capestro & Emerald Q Partners, was trained by
Paula Capestra and ridden by David Flores, who picked up the mount from
Mike Smith. She ran the seven furlongs in 1:23.29.
Watermelon Wine was second and
Saxony was third.
