Full Field for Melair Stakes
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 23, 2003)
-- A full field of 12, led by stakes winners Long Term Wish and Amber
Hills, is entered in Saturday's $200,000 Melair Stakes for 3-year-old
fillies at 1 1/16 miles.
Long Term Wish, winner of the Boo
La Boo, was outrun in the Grade I Santa Anita Oaks, but she has three wins
in seven starts and $151,654 in earnings. She is by Souvenir Copy, out of
the Nashwan mare Warmest Wishes, and was bred by Mr. and Mrs. John Mabee.
Amber Hills is coming off a win in
the Mar. 15 California Oaks, having won the Black Swan Stakes at Fairplex
Park last year. She is by Bold Badgett, out of the Lord Avie mare Princess
of Honey, and was bred by SLU Inc. She has $132,730, with three wins in
nine starts.
Aclevershadeofjade is by Clever
Trick, out of the Jade Hunter mare Ashadeofjade, and was bred by Bacardi
Bloodstock. She broke her maiden Mar. 16 in her second start.
Bartok's Blithe is by Bartok, out
of the Roanoke mare Merry Krisoke, and was bred by Morry Cohen. She broke
her maiden in her fifth start and was second in a Mar. 30 allowance.
Ela Ela, a graduate of the Del Mar
Yearling Sale, is coming off a second in the $250,000 WinStar Oaks. She is
by Falstaff, out of the Plugged Nickle mare Key Mist, and was bred by
Chris Ray. She sold at Del Mar for $165,000.
Fatal Caper is by Town Caper, out
of the Ahmad mare Ah Fatal, and was bred by Haras El Palenque & Earl
McNeil. She has two wins in seven starts and was seventh in the WinStar
Oaks.
Just by Chance is by Geri, out of
the Blushing John mare Okura, and was bred by Vessels Stallion Farm. She
has won her last two races.
Oneexcessivenite is by In Excess,
out of the Son of Briartic mare Favored One, and was bred by Michael
Pegram. She has two wins and is coming off a fifth in the Mar. 13 Some
Sensation Stakes.
Princess V. is by Memo, out of the
Fort Silver mare Fort Calgary, and was bred by Ken Porter. She has won her
only two starts and is a full sister to Vito Corleone, who is entered in
the Tiznow Stakes.
Run Rebecca Run is by Swiss
Yodeler, out of the Strawberry Road mare Strawberry's Best, and was bred
by Patricia Youngman. She is coming off a 7 1/2 length maiden win in her
second start.
Tricky Surf is by Urgent Request,
out of the Dimaggio mare Windy Pass, and was bred by Harold Phenix. She
broke her maiden in her third start Mar. 26.
Valentine Dancer is by In Excess,
out of the Mr. Prospector mare Gilded Dancer, and was bred by Al and
Sandee Kirkwood. She has one win in six starts, two of them stakes.
