$175,000 TVG Khaled Stakes -- NATIVE DESERT

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 28, 2002) -- Native Desert, the winningest of the 94 horses entered in Sunday's Gold Rush III, added to his illustrious resume by winning the $175,000 TVG Khaled Stakes.

The 9-year-old gelded son of Desert Classic, out of the Princely Native mare Miss C. Native, was bred by Fred Watarida.

The win, his second in the Khaled, was the 20th victory of his career in 64 starts, and raised his earnings to more than $1.7 million. It was his sixth win at Hollywood Park and came after he finished third in the Mar. 24 Crystal Water Handicap behind winner Hugh Hefner.

Native Desert was trained by Juan Garcia and was ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye.

Hugh Hefner finished third in the TVG Khaled with Visual Energy third.
