Early Cal Cup Scratches

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 1, 2002) -- There were eight scratches for Saturday's California Cup when overnight changes were reported Friday by the Oak Tree racing office at Santa Anita.

In the $50,000 Kenneth M. Schiffer Cal Cup Starter Sprint Handicap, No. 3 La Bandera, No. 4 Big Team Spirit and No. 7 Debonair Joe are out.

In the $150,000 John Deere Cal Cup Distaff, the three also-eligibles are scratched: No. 15 Re Vote, No. 16 Mabel Kent and No. 17 Serene in Seattle.

In the $250,000 Cal Cup Classic, No. 9 Long Gone Con is gone.

And in the $175,000 John C. Mabee Cal Cup Mile, scratch No. 13 White Cloud, with also-eligible Bonair Lake drawing into the field.

Filigree is still in for the Distaff, however she also is entered in Sunday's seventh race, a 6 1/2 furlong optional claimer and is in for a $40,000 tag.
