Cee's Tizzy Well Represented at Del Mar

ARCADIA, Calif. (July 9, 2002) -- There are dozens of sires represented at this year's Del Mar Yearling Sale, with countless accomplishments on their resumes.

But there is only one to have sired a two-time Breeders Cup Classic champion.

Cee's Tizzy, whose son, Tiznow, also is the all-time leading California-bred money winner, has eight colts and one filly catalogued in this year's Del Mar Yearling Sale, and the buyer of every one of them no doubt is hoping some of Tiznow's magic is passed along to their yearling.

Cee's Tizzy, a 15-year-old resident of Harris Farms, has been ably represented in recent years by a number of other top performers. Among them is Gourmet Girl, a $3,500 purchase from the 1996 Del Mar Yearling Sale and the auction's first ever Eclipse Award-winning graduate.

As with many prominent California stallions, the success of Cee's Tizzy is a testament to both local and international elements. The stallion is a son of Relaunch, a leading stamina representative of the brilliant In Reality sire line, and Tizly, a daughter of Lyphard and the outstanding Chilean-bred mare Tizna, a major US winner on both coasts in the 1970's.

Tiznow and his siblings, among them millionaire Budroyale and recent newcomer Tizbud, are out of Cee's Song, a daughter of Seattle Slew's 1984 Washington, D.C. International winner Seattle Song.

Hip 54, a roan colt and one of two Cee's Tizzy yearlings in Harris Farms' 2002 Del Mar consignment, is out of the Seattle Song mare Time to Plant, a fifth generation descendant of Black Helen, a top-class daughter of the incredible matriarch La Troienne.

An eclectic group of broodmare sires led by Cutlass Reality, General Meeting and Assert complete other Cee's Tizzy-sired pedigrees in the sale. A fellow Harris Farms stallion, Cutlass Reality's Damascus lineage bodes well for a promising future in this new guise, whereas General Meeting and Assert offer a Seattle Song-like compliment of stamina.
