Oberwald Takes Haggin Stakes

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (June 16, 2002) -- Oberwald represented first-year California stallion Swiss Yodeler with his first stakes winner Sunday, taking the $96,500 Haggin Stakes for 2-year-olds at Hollywood Park.

Oberwald, the eighth winner by the freshman sire Swiss Yodeler, is out of the Cahill Road mare Magic Rhythm, was bred in California by Marvin Malmuth and foaled at Pepper Oaks Farm. He won a maiden special weight race May 18.

Oberwald won the Haggin by 1 1/2 lengths and ran the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:05.01.
