2002 CTBA Sales Del Mar Yearling Sale ARCADIA, Calif. (May 30, 2002) - The CTBA has announced that 159 yearlings are to be catalogued for the 2002 edition of its Del Mar Yearling Sale. This group of quality individuals, selected according to strict criteria pertaining to both pedigree and conformation, is dominated by California-breds (94%) and has the potential to improve on last year's record sale average of $43,667. Once again, the auction is split over two sessions but this year it will follow racing at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club on both days, Sunday, August 11 and Monday, August 12. The youngsters scheduled to go through the ring each evening will represent such established local sires as Avenue of Flags, Bertrando, Cee's Tizzy, General Meeting, High Brite, In Excess (Ire), Memo (Chi), Smokester and Valid Wager, as well as the promising young California-based stallions Event of the Year, Free House, Illinois Storm, Mud Route, Swiss Yodeler and Western Fame. For convenience, the list of all the yearlings accepted is now available online here while their pedigree pages will also be posted as soon as possible and the plan is to have the catalog mailed out during the first week of July.
