Cal-Bred Quartet in Monrovia Field

ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 29, 2001) - Four of the better California-bred fillies and mares will take to Santa Anita's hillside turf course Monday in the $100,000 Grade III Monrovia Handicap.

Fair Apache is a stakes-winning daughter of Bertrando, out of the Lyphard mare Skipping Beats, and was bred by 505 Stables and Ed Nahem. She has nine wins in 26 careers starts and most recently was fifth in the Nov. 24 Safely Kept Handicap.

Favorite Funtime is coming off a win in the Nov. 23 Cat's Cradle, her fifth win in 10 career starts. The daughter of Seeking the Gold, out of the Youth mare Promising Girl, was bred by owners John and Betty Mabee.

Dusty Heather is a daughter of M. Double M., out of the Bob's Dusty mare Dusty Draw, and was bred by I.S. Longo. She has five wins in 41 career starts, but has gone more than a year since her last victory.

Top of Our Game is a daughter of Steinlen, out of the Imasmartee mare In True Form, and was bred by owner Harris Farms. The multiple stakes winner was pulled up trying to go 1½ miles on the grass in her most recent race, the Dec. 8 Waya Handicap.
