Lady George Wins Filly Cal Breeders' Championship ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 28, 2001) - Lady George returned to the California-bred ranks in winning fashion Friday, capturing the $150,000 California Breeders' Champion Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Santa Anita. Lady George is a daughter of Lake George, out of the Kennedy Road mare Metro Link, and was bred by Bedford Stables and Stonehenge Stable. She was a $2,500 purchase at Barretts October sale. Lady George won the California Cup Juvenile Fillies Stakes, then finished sixth in the Nov. 23 Grade III Miesque Stakes. The Breeders' Champion win was her third in nine starts for earnings of $220, 976. Super High, a daughter of High Brite, out of the Zanthe mare Image of Super and bred by Harris Farms, was second. The winner's sire, Lake George, also stands at Harris Farms. Daddy's Gold, a daughter of Devil's Rock, out of the Zickity Zack mare Lila's Date and bred by Southern Nevada Racing Stable, was third.
