Above Perfection Returns in La Brea ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 27, 2001) - The lightly raced Above Perfection will make her first start in five months Saturday, leading a trio of California-breds in the $200,000 Grade I La Brea Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita. The daughter of In Excess, out of the Somethingfabulous mare Something Perfect, was bred by Old English Rancho. She finished a close second to Xtra Heat in the Grade I Prioress Stakes over the summer before winning the Fleet Treat Stakes July 22 at Del Mar. Warren's Whistle is a consistent daughter of Wolf Power, out of the Pirateer mare Velveteen, and was bred by Robert Harmon. She was fourth in the Cat's Cradle after a big second in the Cal Cup Distaff. This will be her 18th race in 2001. Royally Chosen, like Above Perfection, is a daughter of In Excess, out of the King of Kings mare Her Royalty, and was bred by Old English Rancho and Headley. She won an Oct. 14 allowance at Oak Tree.
