Debonair Joe Gets Another Shot at Cable Ready ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 26, 2001) - In what shapes up as a rematch of the Dec. 5 Free House Stakes, 10 California-bred 2-year-olds are entered in Friday's $150,000 California Breeders Championship Stakes at Santa Anita. Four of the first five finishers in the Free House are entered in this one. Debonair Joe, Cable Ready, Main Player and Iza Chili Bean crossed the line 1-2-3-5 in the race, but Debonair Joe was disqualified and placed third with Cable Ready awarded the win. Debonair Joe is a son of Ole, out of the Debonair Roger mare Malita, and was bred by Craig Lewis and Mira Loma Thoroughbred Farm. He won the Beau Brummel Stakes. Cable Ready is a son of Soft Gold, out of the Turkoman mare Turko Milady, and was bred by Southern Nevada Racing Stables. Main Player is a son of Avenue of Flags, out of the Alysheba mare Sheba's Charmer, and was bred by Omar Aldabbagh. Iza Chili Bean is a son of Iz a Saros, out of the Out of the East mare Barbie Karen, and was bred by Licia Lynn Bean. Vito Corleone is a son of Memo, out of the Fort Calgary mare Fort Silver, and was bred by Ken Porter. He finished third in the Golden Bear Stakes Nov. 24. Gobi Dan is a son of Huckster, out of the Silent Fox mare Jellicent, and was bred by Carl and Olivia Cannata. He won a $62,500 claimer Nov. 29. Earl of Danby is a son of Smokester, out of the Red Ryder mare Red Radience, and was bred by John Toffan and Trudy McCaffery. He won his Dec. 8 debut. Highly Suspect is a son of High Brite, out of the Tally Ho the Fox mare Foxy Envoy, and was bred by Harris Farms. Funny Meeting is a son of General Meeting, out of the Nureyev mare Aerial Spirit, and was bred by John and Betty Mabee. He has been idel since a sixth-place finish in the Sept. 3 I'm Smokin Stakes. Joey Franco is a son of Avenue of Flags, out of the Native Prospector mare Susan Powter, and was bred by Jerry Frankel. He is making his debut.
