Lady George Heads Cal Breeders Fillies Stakes

ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 26, 2001) - Lady George and Fragrant Cloud, 1-2 finishers in the California Cup Juvenile Fillies, lead a field of 10 California-bred 2-year-old fillies Friday in the seven-furlong $150,000 California Breeders' Champion Stakes at Santa Anita.

Lady George is a daughter of Lake George, out of the Kennedy Road mare Metro Link, was bred by Bedford Stables and Stonehenge Stables and was a $2,500 Barretts October yearling purchase. She was a close sixth in the Grade III Miesque Stakes. Fragrant Cloud is a daughter of Smokester, out of the With Approval mare Nataka, and was bred by owners John Toffan and Trudy McCaffery.

Daddy's Gold, Martial's Princess and Icantgoforthat -- 2-3-4 finishers in the Dec. 8 Golden Ballet Stakes -- also will have a rematch. Daddy's Gold is by Devil's Rock, out of the Zickity Zack mare Lila's Date, was bred by Southern Nevada Racing Stables. Martial's Princess is by Martial Law, out of the Dramatic Bid mare Dramatic Bam, and was bred by James Hampton. She was second in the CTBA Stakes July 20. Icantgoforthat is by In Excess, out of the Copelan mare Texinadress, and was bred by Michael Pegram.

Bigboystoy is a Northern California invader who is a son of Corslew, out of the Moscow Ballet mare Moscow's Buccaneer, and was bred by Clay Murdock and Brent Sumja. She won a Nov. 25 allowance at Golden Gate Fields.

Icy Avenue and Super High won their debuts. Icy Avenue is a daughter of Avenue of Flags, out of the Greinton mare Mighty Icy, and was bred by Ernest Auerbach. Super High is a daughter of High Brite, out of the Zanthe mare Image of Super, and was bred by Harris Farm.

Chalifioux and Wicked Mood finished 1-2 in a $40,000 maiden claimer Dec. 2. Chalifioux is by Ventriloquist, out of the Creekarosa mare Fuzzy Side Up, and was bred by Ronald Clark.

Wicked Mood is by Flying Chevron, out of the Shimatoree mare Shimissee, and was bred by Patricia Youngman and Granton Bloodstock.
