Ayanna Wins Christmas Futurity
PHOENIX, Ariz. (Dec. 22, 2001) - Ayanna, an Arizona-bred daughter of California stallion In Excess, became a multiple stakes winner Saturday with an easy win as the 2-5 favorite in the $75,000 Christmas Futurity for 2-year-olds at Turf Paradise.
Bred by owner Triple AAA Ranch, out of the Sovereign Dancer mare Dance Play, Ayanna was clocked for six furlongs in 1:08.32 and finished out the 6½ furlongs in 1:15.28 under a hand ride, winning by 1½ lengths while beating males for the first time.
Ayanna was coming off a win in the Nov. 18 $100,000 Moccasin Stakes at Hollywood Park. She has three wins in six starts and $145,750 in earnings.
