Son of Mr Purple Tries MIAMI, Fla. (Dec. 21, 2001) - Junior Deputy, a Kentucky-bred son of California stallion Mr Purple, is entered in Saturday's $100,000 Pete Axthelm Stakes, for 3-year-olds at 7½ furlongs on the Calder Race Track turf course. Junior Deputy is out of the Conquistador Cielo mare Orlanova, and was bred by Calumet Farm. He won the Prairie Mile Stakes and is Mr. Purple's leading earner with $88,703 out of 10 runners.
