Son of Comet Shine Wins Stakes

JAMAICA, N.Y. (Dec. 17, 2001) - Eye Of The Comet, a New York-bred son of California stallion Comet Shine, won the $81,575 Damon Runyon Handicap for 2-year-olds at Aqueduct Sunday.

Eye Of The Comet is out of the Dr. Blum mare Blumsta and has career earnings of $113,218. He won the Damon Runyon by 6 ½ lengths and was timed in 1:46 2/5 for the 1 1/16 miles.

Comet Shine, who entered stud in 1995, stands at Madera Thoroughbreds in Madera. He was the Canadian 2-year-old champion colt. Eye Of The Comet is Comet Shine's first stakes winner in the United States. Comet Shine also stood in Australia.
