Pair With California Ties in Calder Features MIAMI, Fla. (Dec. 7, 2001) - Two horses with California connections could take part in Saturday's Grand Slam program at Calder. Coolbythepool, on the also-eligible list for the $100,000 Grade III My Charmer Handicap, is a 4-year-old daughter of Notebook out of the California stallion Candi's Gold mare Courtly Attire, and was bred in Florida by Earl and Teresa Pierpont. She is coming off a win in the Oct. 13 Shocker T. Handicap. Slew Valley is entered in the $100,000 Grade III Tropical Turf Handicap. He is a 4-year-old son of Valley Crossing, out of the California stallion Slewpy mare Slewway, and was bred in Maryland by W. James Hindman.
