Cal-Breds Square Off in Golden Poppy ALBANY, Calif. (Dec. 7, 2001) - A trio of California-bred fillies is entered in Saturday's $55,000 Golden Poppy Handicap for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on the Golden Gate Fields turf course. Lil Sister Stich is coming off consecutive wins, including the Nov. 3 California Cup Distaff Starter Handicap. She is a daughter of Seattle Bound, out of the Never Tabled mare Never Tarnished, and was bred by Gary and Marlene Howard. She has four wins in nine career starts. Mimi's Café finished fourth in the Nov. 3 Cal Cup Matron Handicap, but she won three stakes on the summer fair circuit and has career earnings of $369,412. She is a daughter of Snow Chief, out of the Spectacular Bid mare Downtown Grill, and was bred by Old English Rancho. Miss Ng In Action is a daughter of Gray Slewpy, out of the Turkoman mare Turkish Gipsy, and was bred by Cardiff Farm Management and Bobby Ng. She has three wins in four tries on the grass. Fabulous Flight, a Canadian-bred daughter of California stallion Flying Continental, also is in the field. She is out of the Somethingfabulous mare Somefabulous Miss and was bred by Telegraph Trail Thoroughbreds and Tom Perry. She has gone more than 15 months since her last win.
