Cable Ready Wins on DQ INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Dec. 5, 2001) - Cable Ready, coming off a $32,000 maiden claiming win in his debut, was awarded first place in the first running of the $50,000 Free House Stakes for California-bred 2-year-olds Wednesday when 6-5 favorite Debonair Joe, first across the line, was disqualified and placed third. Debonair Joe, winner of the Beau Brummel Stakes at Fairplex Park, ducked in at the gap early in the 6½-furlong race and bumped Main Player, who eventually finished third. Debonair Joe then ran down his rivals around the turn between horses and pulled away to finish 2½ lengths ahead of Cable Ready. Cable Ready is a son of Soft Gold, out of the Turkoman mare Turko Milady, and was bred by owner Southern Nevada Racing Stables. Copyright © 1998-2001 California Thoroughbred Breeders Association |
