Seabiscuit Book Wins Award
LONDON, England (Nov. 27, 2001) - Author Laura Hillenbrand's bestseller "Seabiscuit: An American Legend," won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award.
The book, published in the United States and Britain, is being made into a movie by Universal Pictures, while Hillenbrand also will serve as a senior consultant for a Public Broadcasting Service documentary on the legendary horse.
The Sports Book of the Year award comes with a prize of about $14,300, a comped worth approximately $1,500 with the William Hill bookmakers in England and a leather-bound copy of the book.
