Cal-bred Quartet Contest Safely Kept INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Nov. 22, 2001) - Four California-breds will try to rebound from California Cup disappointments in Saturday's $70,000 Safely Kept Handicap for fillies and mares at 5 ½ furlongs on the Hollywood Park turf course. Fair Apache is a multiple stakes-winning daughter of Bertrando, out of the Lyphard mare Skipping Beats, and was bred by 505 Stables and Ed Nahem. Always the Lady is by Something Lucky, out of the Silveyville mare Sheza Dancing Girl, and was bred by Old English Rancho and R.J. Pagliuso. She finished third in the CTBA Marian Stakes Sept. 17 at Fairplex Park Sea of Ice is a daughter of Iam the Iceman, out of the Believe It mare See and Believe, and was bred by Paul and Mary Ann Nicoletti.
