Cat's Cradle Should be Rocking

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2001) - Warren's Whistle and Favorite Funtime, runners-up in California Cup races, will lead a field of eight California-bred fillies and mares in Friday's $100,000 Cat's Cradle Handicap over 7½ furlongs at Hollywood Park.

Warren's Whistle, a daughter of Wolf Power out of the Pirateer mare Velveteen, came from last to lose the Cal Cup Distaff to Jeweled Pirate at about 6 ½ furlongs on the Santa Anita downhill turf course. She was bred by Robert Harmon.

Favorite Funtime, a daughter of Seeking the Gold out of the Youth mare Promising Girl, fell two lengths short of Cee Dreams in the 1 1/16-mile Cal Cup Matron. She was bred by Mr. and Mrs. John Mabee.

Storm Kisu and Song of the Moment, who finished third and fourth in the Cal Cup Distaff, also are entered.

Looking to make amends will be Feverish, whose earnings can climb past $900,000 with a win, and Queenie Belle, whose earnings can exceed $600,000 with a win.

Feverish, a daughter of Pirate's Bounty out of the Flying Paster mare Blonde Fever, finished fifth in the Matron. She was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod. Queenie Belle, a daughter of Bertrando out of the Don B. mare Lady Argyle, was an overmatched 10th in the Breeders Cup Distaff.

Also entered are Cee's Elegance, a daughter of Cee's Tizzy bred by Cecilia Straub-Rubens who finished third in an optional claimer Nov. 1, and Notable Career, a daughter of Avenue of Flags bred by the Mabees, who has lost two races by 24 combined lengths since her comeback from a 10-month layoff.
