
Bertrando Colt Tops First Night at Del Mar
Del Mar, CA (August 14, 2000) Opening night at the Del Mar Yearling Sale proved successful as 52 yearlings were sold for an average of $33,712.
Becky Thomas' Sequel Bloodstock went up to $175,000 for a Bertrando Colt out of the stakes winning mare St. Helens Shadow by Septieme Ciel.
"It is great to see the marketplace support quality California-bred horses," said CTBA General Manager Doug Burge. "We had a good night overall and we are expecting even bigger things tomorrow night."
Another Bertrando colt brought $125,000 , the second highest price of the night. Tom Bunn signed the ticket for the Bay colt out of the Cox's Ridge mare Sierra Ridge who was consigned by Woodbridge Farm, Agent for Paula Capestro Bloodstock.
There were originally 85 horses cataloged for opening night of which nine were withdrawn with 23 RNA's. For complete results of the first session click here.
