Dispersal of 505 Farms

ARCADIA, Calif., (Thursday June 8, 2000)-Officials of Barretts Equine Limited announced today that the Pomona, California auction firm on July 22nd will conduct the first phase of the Complete Dispersal of 505 Farms, the highly-successful racing and breeding operation owned by the late Marshall Naify, who passed away in April of this year. Narvick International will act as agent for 505 Farms. 

The Saturday evening sale will consist of a total of 117 horses, including the great mare Manistique, the entire crop of 2-year-olds, as well as all California-based horses of racing age, yearlings, broodmares and foals. The 24 unraced 2-year-olds include a filly by Storm Cat, colts by Mr. Prospector, Kris S., and Silver Deputy, and a number of juveniles by California's Leading Sire, Bertrando. 

"Mr. Naify was one of the finest people to grace our industry, and we are honored to have been chosen to conduct this sale," stated Gerald F. McMahon, Barretts' President and General Manager. "This is an extremely attractive group of horses and we are especially delighted to be able to sell Manistique. She's really one of a kind," added McMahon. 

505's Western Canadian racehorses are currently scheduled to be sold in Washington state in September, and the Kentucky-based yearlings and breeding stock will be sold in Lexington later in the year. 

Catalogs for the dispersal sale will be published in early July.
