
Cal-breds Continue to Sell Well at Barretts
ARCADIA, Calif., (Wednesday May 17th, 2000) The second session of Barretts May Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training continued with Cal-breds posting impressive numbers.
The top selling Cal-bred of the second session was a dark bay or brown filly by Salt Lake purchased by Lana Seidler for $80,000. Consigned by Mary Knight for Vessels Stallion Farm, Shez in Sync was produced from the Cure the Blues mare Breezy Music.
Bruno De Berdt signed a $77,000 ticket for a dark bay or brown daughter of the English stallion Level Sands. This Cal-bred was consigned by Creston Farms.
Victor Victorious, a bay colt by Siyah Kalem who stands at Pegasus Ranch in Petaluma, California, was purchased by Tom L. Stull for $72,000. Jenine Sahadi went to $48,000 for Talk Talk, a dark bay or brown filly by prominent California stallion In Excess (Ire) who was consigned by Havens Bloodstock.
The second session was highlighted by a Maria's Mon colt purchased by Mr. Duane Jenson for $240,000. In the second session, there were 77 horses sold for an average of $32,244. Overall, there were 166 horses sold during the two-day sale for gross sales of $2,482,800 with an average of $29,914. The average was up over $3,000 from 1999 and the median rose from $17,000 to $19,000. There were 74 horses bought back this year compared to 62 in 1999.
