Honoring California's Best
This year's California Thoroughbred Breeders Association's annual
meeting and awards luncheon was held at Santa Anita Park Feb. 6. Attendees heard committee
reports from board members during the morning and enjoyed a lavish lunch at the splendid
new Front-Runner Restaurant high atop Santa Anita's grandstand in the afternoon.
Near the conclusion of the business meeting. CTBA's clerk of elections
Dan Harralson announced results of the Board of Directors balloting. Seven contested five
seats, and the winners were Clydene Boots, Jeanne Canty, Keith Card, Eddie Card, Eddie
Gregson and John Harris. All the winners, with the exception of Boots, were incumbents.
Throughout the day's racing program, California's 1999 champions were crowned in winner's
circle ceremonies following each race. It truly was a championship day!
